Who Should Stay at Dormy Inn PREMIUM Nagasaki Ekimae

Around Nagasaki there are many famous sightseeing spots full of exotic charm, including World Heritage sites like Huis Ten Bosch, Hashima (Battleship Island), and the Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Museum.
Because so many tourists visit throughout the year, there are about 80 hotels around Nagasaki Station.
With so many hotels, it’s convenient, but it’s also hard to decide where to stay, right?
I chose this hotel for sightseeing in Nagasaki, and after actually staying here, these are the people I think Dormy Inn PREMIUM Nagasaki Ekimae suits best.
・You want a hotel within walking distance of Nagasaki Station
・You want to get “totonou” at a hot spring with an open-air bath and sauna
・You want little luxuries like late-night ramen, ice cream, a lactic acid drink, and Nagasaki local food
Let me go through them one by one.
First, people who want to stay at a hotel within walking distance of Nagasaki Station.
The hotel is a 7-minute walk from the station, so you can get by without a car, relying on trains. Many of Nagasaki’s sightseeing spots can be reached by streetcar, so streetcar plus bus is quite convenient.
Second, people who want to get “totonou” at a hot spring with an open-air bath or sauna.
Dormy Inn hotels run by Kyoritsu Resort put effort not only into guest rooms but also into hot springs and saunas — some even have self-löyly — and the hot springs and saunas at Dormy Inns in scenic spots and famous hot spring areas across Japan are exceptional.
Third, people who want little luxuries like late-night ramen, ice cream, a lactic acid drink, and Nagasaki local food.
Dormy Inn offers small touches of hospitality, such as late-night ramen after your bath, ice pops, and a lactic acid drink service in the morning. The breakfast buffet serves Nagasaki specialties such as sara udon and horse mackerel tataki rice bowl, so you’re sure to be satisfied.
If you want to stay within walking distance of Nagasaki Station and enjoy a hot spring and sauna, I highly recommend this hotel!

Around the hotel there are izakaya, AMU Plaza Nagasaki, and a convenience store directly connected to the hotel, so you’ll never struggle to find food or drink.

Stay Plans & Prices at Dormy Inn PREMIUM Nagasaki Ekimae
The plan I actually booked and stayed with was the Rakuten Travel “Non-smoking Twin Room” with breakfast, at the weekday rate of 19,360 yen for two people.
On Friday and Saturday nights, the price rises by 5,000 yen or more, and even more on special dates, so the pricing is quite bold.
The twin room is 22 m², and a step up is the Deluxe Twin Room at 30 m².

Dormy Inn PREMIUM Nagasaki Ekimae: Hotel Overview

Now let me introduce the details of Dormy Inn PREMIUM Nagasaki Ekimae, where I stayed this time.
I walked from Nagasaki Station to the hotel. A modern, stylish design in a gray palette greeted me.
Check-In

The hotel front desk is stylish and very clean!
It can serve up to three groups at once, so even in the evening when check-ins are concentrated, the process should go fairly smoothly.

Behind the front desk, I found a Seven-Eleven that you can reach directly from inside the hotel.
It’s convenient to be able to pop over easily if you forgot to buy something!

The welcome drink is available from 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM.
After check-in, you can have as many cups of tea or coffee as you like.
Hotel Map

Dormy Inn PREMIUM Nagasaki Ekimae is an 11-story building.
The 1st floor has the front desk and shared restrooms, the 2nd floor has the restaurant and guest rooms, floors 3 to 10 are guest rooms, and the top 11th floor has the natural hot spring “Tsurukou no Yu” and the post-bath lounge.
It’s exciting to have the hot spring on the top floor!
Guest Room

This time I stayed in a twin room.
When riding the elevator, you need to hold up your card key in order to get to your room.
When you open the guest room door, there’s a card key slot immediately on the left, and another door straight ahead.

When you open the door ahead, the beds are right there — compact, clean, and lovely.
I’ve stayed at other Dormy Inns, and my impression is always of cleanliness!
The beds are made by Simmons, so they’re extremely comfortable to sleep on!

Between the two beds is an alarm clock, and each bedside has an outlet. Even a short cord will let you charge your phone.

At the foot of the beds there’s a sofa chair big enough for two and a round wooden side table.
The TV board also has a workspace for one person, with a chair different from the sofa chair, so you can use the room comfortably.

Under the TV are a combination-dial safe and a refrigerator.
When you open the refrigerator, there’s a seasonal fruit service, so don’t forget it! It’s one of Dormy Inn’s little touches of hospitality.

The closet has deodorizing spray, six hangers (three per person), in-house slippers, and loungewear.
The loungewear is a two-piece set, so it’s very comfortable for spending time in the hotel.
Washbasin & Shower Room

There’s a washbasin separate from the shower room.
The bath towel set is in the basket under the washbasin.
If you’re going to the hot spring, take the bath towel set from your room.

There’s no unit bath — only a shower room — but with a hot spring and sauna available, you don’t need one.
The shower room’s plumbing is also clean.

The washbasin has a Panasonic ionity hair dryer, toothbrushes, razors, and a comb.
Toilet

The toilet is fully separate, with a bidet seat, and has plenty of space.
Isn’t the size of the toilet quietly important?!
The Natural Hot Spring at Dormy Inn PREMIUM Nagasaki Ekimae

After checking in and relaxing in the room for a bit, off to the hot spring and sauna!
When you step out of the elevator hall on the 11th floor, you’ll see a big “Tsurukou no Yu” sign.

The women’s bath is at the front. You need a PIN code to enter the women’s bath, so security is solid!

Pass in front of the rest area and the men’s bath is at the very back.
The lockers in the changing area are two-tier with dividers, and you can even store your slippers in them! Handy!
It’s no fun to have someone wear your slippers by mistake, right?

The indoor bath is 41–42°C, and the stained-glass-style walls and lighting give it a premium feel that suits Nagasaki.

Here’s what’s different about the new Dormy Inn!
The washing areas, for both men and women, let you try the Fine Bubble shower head by ReFa.
The Sauna at Dormy Inn PREMIUM Nagasaki Ekimae

The men’s dry sauna. Inside, it has two horizontal tiers with a capacity of about 18 people, and a TV with sound at the front.
The heater is at the back, so you can choose a seat near the front or the back depending on how you’re feeling — what a premium touch. It’s a well-thought-out design.
The temperature is about 96°C — nice and hot!!

The women’s dry sauna is also a solid 98°C. The upper tier is quite hot, so beginners should sit on the lower tier and sweat more gently.
The Cold Plunge at Dormy Inn PREMIUM Nagasaki Ekimae

The cold plunge has room for two people at once, and the water is cold at around 13–14°C. Super cold!!
It may be the coldest cold plunge among the many hotels in Nagasaki.

The best way to get “totonou” is outdoor air bathing!!
The open-air area has two chairs plus two reclining chairs — a perfect setting to get “totonou” while gazing at the night sky!
This is a hotel you could live in!
The Post-Bath Lounge at Dormy Inn PREMIUM Nagasaki Ekimae

The post-bath lounge has manga, a rest area, and a massage corner.
This is how it looks in the morning — the lounge offers a Yakult service in the morning and an ice pop service at night.
You can choose from several kinds of ice pops, such as grape, soda, vanilla, chocolate bar, and monaka, so kids are sure to be delighted!
Of course, there’s also coffee milk and vending machines nearby.
From the large windows, you can enjoy the view of Nagasaki’s cityscape.
| Service | Hours |
|---|---|
| Post-bath ice pop service | 3:00 PM–1:00 AM |
| Lactic acid drink (Yakult) service | 5:00 AM–10:00 AM |

Pick up a manga and relax in the massage chair! Before you know it, time has flown by — but that’s just perfect.

The next morning, there are no ice pops, but a lactic acid drink service instead.
After a morning bath, it goes down smoothly.
Late-Night Ramen at Dormy Inn PREMIUM Nagasaki Ekimae

If there’s one Dormy Inn signature service, it’s the late-night ramen (yonaki soba).
It’s served only from 9:30 PM to 11:00 PM, so I recommend finishing dinner around 8 PM, heading back to the hotel for a soak, and then having the ramen early.

Since it’s right before bed, a light soy-sauce-based ramen is just right!
It had large pieces of menma, too, and I slurped it down happily.
Breakfast at Dormy Inn PREMIUM Nagasaki Ekimae

The breakfast venue is the Hatago restaurant on the 2nd floor.
It’s a buffet centered on Japanese food, and Nagasaki specialties sara udon and horse mackerel tataki rice bowl are all-you-can-eat!!

The breakfast buffet staples: grilled salmon, rolled omelet, simmered dishes, and more.

Another Dormy Inn Nagasaki specialty is the all-you-can-eat horse mackerel tataki rice bowl.
I recommend eating the first bowl as is, and the second as ochazuke with dashi broth. You’ll be full from the morning.

There’s a small bread corner with croissants and more.
At Dormy Inn, a plate built around rice is recommended over bread!

The drink corner has milk, vegetable juice, oolong tea, orange juice, coffee, black tea, and cocoa/latte.

What I piled on my plate: sara udon, horse mackerel tataki rice bowl, rolled omelet, salmon, croquette, Unzen ham and hatoshi, onsen egg, tofu, and simmered dishes — a notch-above breakfast menu.
The famous Nagasaki sara udon spares no effort, with plenty of seafood and even oysters. (The portion is enough that you don’t need to go to a sara udon specialty shop.)
The horse mackerel tataki rice bowl is also generously topped with plenty of fish!

After the meal: a fruit assortment, Nagasaki castella, and cake.
・6:30 AM–9:30 AM (last entry 9:00 AM)
・Adults: 2,100 yen; ages 3 to elementary school: 1,000 yen; ages 2 and under: free (tax included)
My Thoughts After Staying at Dormy Inn PREMIUM Nagasaki Ekimae

This time I stayed at Dormy Inn PREMIUM Nagasaki Ekimae as a base for sightseeing in Nagasaki.
The location is within walking distance of Nagasaki Station, so getting around is easy!
The room is as spacious as other business hotels, and Dormy Inn hotels are always beautiful and clean.
The natural hot spring on the top floor has large indoor and open-air baths, and the dry sauna lets you get properly “totonou.”
The breakfast restaurant is spacious and offers local menu items that other business hotels don’t, so the breakfast is highly rated!
Dependable Dormy Inn, as always!
So next time, too, I’d like to stay at some Dormy Inn around Japan.
