Who is a stay at Natural Hot Spring Senhama no Yu Dormy Inn Kawasaki right for?

The area around Kawasaki Station doesn’t have many famous sightseeing spots, but it does have plenty of business-support offices, rental meeting rooms, and business hotels.
Keikyu Kawasaki Station gives you easy access to Haneda Airport, so the hotel also sees a lot of guests staying the night before or after a flight.
Because of that, there are around 40 hotels near Kawasaki Station.
Having that many hotels is convenient, but it also makes it hard to decide where to stay, right?
We chose this hotel this time with sightseeing around Yokohama and Minato Mirai as our goal, and having actually stayed there, here’s who we think this hotel suits best:
· Anyone who wants a hotel within walking distance of Kawasaki Station
· Anyone who wants to unwind in a hot spring with an open-air bath and sauna
· Anyone who wants a little indulgence — late-night ramen, ice cream, a probiotic drink, a seafood-bowl breakfast
Let’s go through each one.
First, anyone who wants a hotel within walking distance of Kawasaki Station.
It’s a 7-minute walk from Kawasaki Station to the hotel, so it’s easy to get to by train.
If you’re driving, the multi-story car park costs ¥1,800 a night, which adds up, and if you’re sightseeing around Yokohama, taking the train is more convenient anyway.
Second, anyone who wants to unwind in a hot spring with an open-air bath and sauna.
Dormy Inn, run by Kyoritsu Resort, puts real effort into its hot springs and saunas, and every Dormy Inn nationwide comes with a sauna — great news if you’re a sauna fan.
Third, anyone who wants a little indulgence — late-night ramen, ice cream, a probiotic drink, a seafood-bowl breakfast.
A business hotel is cheap but can feel a little lacking, while a luxury hotel is out of reach, yet you still want a small treat. Dormy Inn offers late-night-only ramen, ice pops, and a probiotic drink, and the breakfast buffet includes a seafood rice bowl loaded with several kinds of seafood — guaranteed to feel like a treat.
If you love saunas, or want ice cream after a soak in the hot spring, we’d definitely recommend staying at this hotel!
Access to Natural Hot Spring Senhama no Yu Dormy Inn Kawasaki
Natural Hot Spring Senhama no Yu Dormy Inn Kawasaki is a 7-minute walk from Kawasaki Station’s Central East Exit, also a 7-minute walk from Keikyu Kawasaki Station (a direct line to Haneda Airport), and about a 15-minute drive from the Daishi IC on the Kanagawa Route 1 Yokohane Line — a business hotel run by Kyoritsu Resort, complete with a natural hot spring and sauna.
The area around the hotel has an entertainment district plus several convenience stores and supermarkets, so you’ll never be stuck for dinner or breakfast.
Parking is available in a multi-story car park at ¥1,800/night, first-come first-served. If it’s full, staff can direct you to nearby paid parking, so you should be able to find a spot somewhere.
Natural Hot Spring Senhama no Yu Dormy Inn Kawasaki plans and pricing
The plan we actually booked and stayed in was Rakuten Travel’s “[Non-Smoking] Compact Hollywood Twin Room,” and our weekday rate with breakfast came to ¥15,352 (after a ¥6,000 discount for two people from Japan’s nationwide travel subsidy campaign).
Friday and Saturday rates run at least ¥5,000 higher, which is a fairly bold price point for a business hotel.
The Hollywood Twin room is about 20㎡, roughly 5㎡ larger than the double or queen rooms.
Booking through Yahoo! Travel or Ikyu’s 60-day advance discount can get you a better rate!
* Prices shown are the lowest weekday rate for two guests with breakfast included, before coupons or discounts. Please check the linked page for the latest information.
Overview of Natural Hot Spring Senhama no Yu Dormy Inn Kawasaki

Now let’s take a closer look at the Natural Hot Spring Senhama no Yu Dormy Inn Kawasaki we stayed at this time.
Dormy Inn Kawasaki has 386 rooms in total, making it the largest Dormy Inn in the chain.
We walked from Kawasaki Station to the hotel. Walk straight down Tachibana-dori and the Dormy Inn comes into view.

The entrance isn’t especially large — about the same as a typical business hotel. With lots of lighting and a beige color scheme throughout, the interior feels clean.
Check-in

The front desk area is spacious, with an Almex self-checkout machine installed.
Across from the front desk there’s a lobby with sofas for meeting up.
Dormy Inn Kawasaki has so many rooms to clean across every department that check-in has been streamlined to keep things simple.
There’s a 7-Eleven directly connected to the lobby, handy for picking up anything you need.

Near the front desk there’s an amenity bar with hairbrushes, razors, toothbrushes, and more.
Hotel Floor Map

Natural Hot Spring Senhama no Yu Dormy Inn Kawasaki has 15 floors above ground.
The 1st floor has the front desk, the 2nd floor has the restaurant and some guest rooms, floors 3 through 14 are guest rooms, and the top floor (15F) has the natural hot spring, sauna, and a relaxation lounge.
Guest Room

Our room this time was on the 13th floor. Every floor has a vending machine, microwave, ice machine, and trouser press.

The carpeted guest room hallway has a trouser press and a shared trash bin.

In the Hollywood Twin room, two single beds sit flush against each other with no gap in between.
On either side of the bed, there’s an outlet, a USB port, and a dial-style button for adjusting the lighting.

Unfortunately the view from the room isn’t much to speak of — you’re basically staring straight at an apartment building across the way.

In front, there’s a chair and a round table for doing a bit of work.
It doesn’t look like it gets used much — it still looks quite new.

There’s a TV stand at the foot of the bed, with just enough space for one person to pass by.
Given the room’s size, the TV is on the larger side and easy to see from either bed.

The TV stand also doubles as a desk, and there’s a simple backless box-style stool too.

Below the TV stand there’s a push-button safe and a bath towel set. Don’t forget to grab a towel on your way to the bath.

Loungewear is already hung on hangers by the entrance. There are plenty of hangers, so you can hang up a lot of clothes even in winter.
Vanity

The vanity is a stand-alone unit, though there isn’t much surface space to put things on, so it feels a bit tight. A hair dryer is provided.

Under the vanity there’s a fridge, two mugs, and an electric kettle.
The layout is clearly designed to make the room feel as spacious as possible.

By the door there are thick in-room slippers. You often see thin, flimsy slippers at hotels, but these have real substance and feel great to wear.
Bathroom & Toilet

There’s a shower room behind the toilet, but since Dormy Inn has a full hot spring and sauna, you probably won’t need to use it.
The toilet itself is clean and spacious.

Body soap, shampoo, and conditioner from POLA.
Natural Hot Spring Senhama no Yu Dormy Inn Kawasaki’s Large Communal Bath

The natural hot spring and large communal bath are on the top floor, 15F. Let’s go take a look.
Having a real natural hot spring in the city of Kawasaki is a rare find, even for a business hotel.

The changing room is spacious and comfortable. There’s also a cold water dispenser.

The spring is a sodium chloride mineral spring with a pH of 7.7, with a distinctive dark brown to blackish color.
There’s also space to lie down — the L-shaped bath is just huge.

From the 15th-floor open-air bath, you can take in Kawasaki’s night skyline.
You can even watch planes descending toward Haneda while relaxing in the outside air. What a luxurious spot!
Natural Hot Spring Senhama no Yu Dormy Inn Kawasaki’s Sauna

A men-only stone sauna. The room has a wide two-tier layout, with a TV with sound facing the seats.
It’s popular enough that dedicated sauna fans choose Dormy Inn specifically, and there are always people using it.
The temperature runs around 96–100°C, though it tends to drop a bit on busy nights with lots of people coming and going.
This is not your typical business-hotel sauna. (Then again, most business hotels don’t have a sauna at all.)

Rather than a hot dry sauna, the women’s side has a steam sauna.
At around 50°C, even 10 minutes is enough to work up a serious sweat.
Natural Hot Spring Senhama no Yu Dormy Inn Kawasaki’s Cold Plunge

Right next to the sauna is a cold plunge pool enclosed on three sides, giving it a nice sense of atmosphere.
The water sits at around 10°C, which is tough for beginners.
Stay in the sauna a little longer than usual and your body might start craving that cold plunge. Just never push yourself too hard.
Natural Hot Spring Senhama no Yu Dormy Inn Kawasaki’s Post-Bath Lounge

A relaxation lounge you won’t find at every Dormy Inn, where you can unwind while taking in the view over Kawasaki.

Not quite manga-cafe scale, but there’s a small manga corner.
Settling into the nearby massage chair corner with a manga in hand isn’t a bad way to spend some time.

There’s even a semi-private, luxurious massage room. And it’s spacious!

Ice pops after a bath. Served from 3pm to 1am, so even a late check-in means you can still grab one.
Plenty of flavors to choose from — lemon soda, melon soda, plain soda, cola, fruit, apple, assorted, grape, pineapple, monaka, and more.

The next morning, instead of ice pops, there’s a probiotic drink service from 5am to 10am. Great for knocking back after a morning soak.
Natural Hot Spring Senhama no Yu Dormy Inn Kawasaki’s Late-Night Ramen

One of Dormy Inn’s signature touches: late-night ramen.
It’s only served from 9:30pm to 11pm, a short window. We’d recommend finishing your bath a bit after 9pm and grabbing a bowl right at 9:30.
On weekdays there seems to be plenty to go around.

A soy-sauce-based, light half-size ramen developed through what we hear was a lot of trial and error.
Perfect since it’s right before bed.

Served in a disposable container with soy sauce broth and curly noodles, topped with three toppings: bamboo shoots, scallions, and nori.
You can also take it back to your room.
A miso base might feel a bit heavy at that hour, so the soy-sauce version is easy to eat.
Thanks for the meal!
Breakfast at Natural Hot Spring Senhama no Yu Dormy Inn Kawasaki

Breakfast is served at Hatago -global kitchen- on the 2nd floor.
It’s spacious and clean enough that it barely feels like a business hotel.

Staff cook omelets and tamagoyaki fresh, right in front of you.

Another Dormy Inn signature: all-you-can-eat seafood rice bowl.
Salmon roe, despite its rising price, along with seared tuna, whitebait, scallop matsumae-zuke, salmon, and more are all laid out.
The toppings rotate, so even on a multi-night stay you won’t get tired of it.

Our full breakfast spread.
We may have gotten a little carried away and piled on a bit too much!
Even just from the photo, you can probably tell this is a cut above a typical business hotel breakfast.

Omelet, tamagoyaki, potato salad, and other breakfast items a notch above the usual.
The omelet is made fresh to order at the live cooking station.

Since we were there anyway, we went for a refill of the seafood rice bowl.
Piled high with salmon roe and negitoro.
Egg dishes and salmon roe are both high in cholesterol, so it’s worth pacing yourself.
· 6:30 AM – 9:30 AM (last entry 9:00 AM) ※ extended by 30 minutes on busy days like Sundays
· Adults: ¥2,100; ages 3 through elementary school: ¥1,000; age 2 and under: free (tax included)
Our Impressions of Staying at Natural Hot Spring Senhama no Yu Dormy Inn Kawasaki

Since it’s run by a publicly listed company, we had no real worries going in, just high expectations.

It was a comfortable stay throughout.
This is one of the hotels we’d recommend to anyone looking for a business hotel that’s just a notch above the rest.
