Hi! This is (@chiropiyo0331).
This time, as lodging for an Osaka trip, I stayed at Aloft Osaka Dojima, located in the Dojima area in the center of Osaka City.
In this article, I’ll share my impressions and review of staying at Aloft Osaka Dojima in detail.
This article is ideal for “people who want to stay at Aloft Osaka Dojima but are curious about it since it just opened,” “people looking for a hotel in central Osaka or around Osaka Umeda,” and “people looking for a Marriott group hotel,” so please be sure to read to the end.
Who is Aloft Osaka Dojima suited for

Osaka is Japan’s second-largest city after Tokyo, so naturally it has many hotels.
Even just the hotels around Osaka Umeda number over 150.
With this many hotels, you’ll struggle to decide where to stay for an Osaka trip or business trip.
This time, I chose this hotel for Osaka sightseeing, and based on actually staying, the people suited to staying at Aloft Osaka Dojima are as follows.
・Those who are Marriott Bonvoy Platinum Elite members and want to stay at a Marriott-group hotel
・Those who want to stay at a stylish designer hotel
・Those who want to stay at a hotel around Osaka Umeda and Kitashinchi
I’ll explain them in order.
The first is people who are Marriott Bonvoy Platinum Elite members and want to stay at a Marriott-group hotel.
This is probably the biggest reason to stay at Aloft Osaka Dojima.
Platinum Elite members can receive the following benefits.
- Late checkout at 16:00 (normally 12:00)
- Room upgrade to the next category
- 20% off restaurants
- +50% bonus points
- Welcome gift (free at the breakfast restaurant)
All of them are attractive.
The second is people who want to stay at a stylish designer hotel.
With stylish guest rooms and vertical twin rooms, it’s a hotel for next-generation travelers that you won’t find at other hotels.
The third is people who want to stay at a hotel around Osaka Umeda and Kitashinchi.
Aloft Osaka Dojima is accessible within a 5-minute walk from Osaka Umeda Station and Kitashinchi Station, so it can be used as a base for sightseeing or business.
Access to Aloft Osaka Dojima
Aloft Osaka Dojima is within a 5-minute walk of Kitashinchi Station (JR Tozai Line / Gakkentoshi Line), Watanabebashi Station (Keihan Nakanoshima Line), and Higobashi Station (Osaka Metro Yotsubashi Line), with excellent access to Umeda and Nakanoshima, a designer hotel operated by Marriott International.
There’s a convenience store right in front of the hotel, and around the hotel are the Nakanoshima Daibiru and Sumitomo Nakanoshima Building, with several places to eat inside the buildings, so even if you eat outside the hotel, you won’t have trouble.
There is no affiliated parking lot, so if you come by car you’ll need to use coin parking in the area.
Overview of Aloft Osaka Dojima

Now, let me introduce the details of Aloft Osaka Dojima, where I stayed this time.
To get to the hotel, I took the train from Shin-Osaka Station on the Midosuji Line to Yodoyabashi Station, then walked from Yodoyabashi Station to the hotel, about 7 minutes.

At the entrance, there was a design-minded car object with trees themed on cherry blossoms planted in its truck bed.
Check-in

The hotel’s front desk is on the left just inside the entrance.
Looking up at the ceiling, you can see flower art in purple and pink hues on display.
I wrote my name and my companion’s name and checked in. There was no detailed explanation of the hotel, and check-in was completed smoothly. I received a room key for each person.

In the lobby behind the front desk, the wall art with colorful skateboards on display is striking.
Skateboarding became a new event at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. It looks set to grow in popularity as a sports culture for young people.

The lobby has lots of stylish chairs and sofas.

At “W XYZ Bar,” you can spend time with a cocktail while listening to acoustic performances by artists.

Stylish indirect lighting and round-table seating.
Hotel floor map

Aloft Osaka Dojima has 14 floors above ground.
The 1st floor has the lobby, bar, and restaurant. The 2nd floor has guest rooms, a fitness gym, and a coin laundry. Everything from the 3rd floor up is guest rooms. Simple and easy to understand.
Guest room

This time I stayed in Room 606, a Loft Twin Distance Bed room.
Hold the room key to the sensor on the door handle and enter ♪

A 24 ㎡ room with a high ceiling!
The beds are arranged lengthwise, a rare pattern that lets even a long, narrow room use its space effectively.
The colorful carpet and design wall are distinctive.

A blue two-seater sofa with two cushions. Pop and cute.

There’s also a yellow single chair. Above it is one outlet and one USB port.

Beside the bed are a phone and a notepad. There’s also stylish indirect lighting.

On the back bed frame are various switches, two USB ports, and one outlet.

The front bed also has the same various switches, two USB ports, and one outlet.
Having two USB ports at each bed is convenient.

Next to the TV is a minibar.
A De’Longhi electric kettle, an ice bucket, takeout cups, and mugs.

For drinks, there are Aloft original blend coffee, decaf coffee, and tea.

Under the minibar is a refrigerator with a clear glass door. Stylish!

The TV is a 55-inch thin full-HD TV. Big and easy to see!

Near the entrance is a hanger rack. There are lots of hangers, which is handy.

Under the hanger rack are an iron and Resesh (deodorizing spray).

Opposite the hanger rack is a large mirror. You’re all set for getting ready!
Washbasin

The washbasin is separate, with a luggage space next to it.
Mineral water is free.

Above the washbasin are a bar of soap, body lotion, a hand towel, and a case holding amenity goods.

Opening the case’s drawer reveals various amenities like a toothbrush and razor.
Is it my imagination that there aren’t enough for the number of people…

Under the washbasin are bath towels and face towels. For some reason, even though it’s a twin room, towels for three people are set out.

Opening the luggage-space storage shelf beside the washbasin reveals room slippers, a shirt-style gown, and a hair dryer.

Opening the storage shelf further below reveals a digital safe.
A small laptop fits easily.
Shower room and toilet

The shower room is separate, with two shower heads, large and small. The water pressure is strong too, which is great.

This shower looks great just from the look of it!!

Shampoo, conditioner, and body soap from drybar, used at California-born shampoo & blow-dry specialty salons.

The toilet is clean and spacious. It’s a comfortable toilet whose lid opens when you approach and closes when you leave.
Flushing is automatic too.
Gym at Aloft Osaka Dojima

The 2nd floor has a fitness gym. It has a full range of equipment including treadmills, dumbbells, and free weights.
All guests can use it free of charge. You need to unlock with your room key to enter the gym floor.

There are hand towels, mineral water, and a refrigerator too, making it a quite well-equipped gym facility.
The wall art here is nice too.
Coin laundry at Aloft Osaka Dojima

On the 2nd floor are two drum-type washer-dryers. They seem to be quite new models.
Breakfast at Aloft Osaka Dojima

Breakfast is at the restaurant next to the front desk on the 1st floor, a buffet centered on Western food.
It can be used the same day even with a no-breakfast plan, at ¥2,420 per adult.

Numerous lights hanging from the ceiling create a lovely space.

I was shown to a 4-person table seat with a sofa.

A large refrigerated case and a well-stocked salad corner. It’s rare to see slightly pricier canned tuna.

There are three dressings: grated soy sauce dressing, Thousand Island dressing, and creamy sesame dressing.

The breakfast staples: bacon, scrambled eggs, and fried eggs.

Pancakes, grilled fish, and takoyaki. Having takoyaki at breakfast is very Osaka.

There’s also yudofu (hot tofu). It was described as Western food, but surprisingly the Japanese options are well stocked too.

Boiled broccoli, french fries, sausages, penne, and more.

Rufanpuru (as written in the JA post), croissants, bagels, and white bread. There’s a wide variety of bread.

There are even cheese rolls, Hokkaido milk bread, and mini chocolate Danish.

A good selection of cereals too: oatmeal, corn frosties, and chocolate crispies.

Even dried fruits like almonds, pumpkin seeds, banana chips, coconut, raisins, and dried mango are provided.

There’s also 100% domestic rice.

For soups, there are two kinds: miso soup and corn soup.

Fruit and yogurt for after the meal are also available.
Pickles, kimchi, umeboshi, and kinpira gobo to go with rice are on the bottom shelf.

A plate of the breakfast items I put together.
I thought I’d held back, but before I knew it I’d taken plenty.

After all, breakfast means scrambled eggs, fried eggs, and bacon, right!

The bread is just the right size and fluffy.
Impressions of staying at Aloft Osaka Dojima

The Aloft brand operated by Marriott International is the first in Kansai, following Tokyo Ginza.
It sells itself on stylish design, and before going in I wondered whether it might feel a bit unsettling, but once I stayed, it was nothing like that and I spent a comfortable time.
The bed mattress provided by Marriott is the best!!
The hotel isn’t large and is cozy, but it’s not inferior to other Marriott brand hotels, and the breakfast was freshly made and delicious.
It’s the perfect hotel for use as an Osaka sightseeing or business base.
