Complete guide to the KoCoo Lounge at Narita Airport
Joe

Hi! I’m Joe.

This time I’m introducing “I.A.S.S SUPERIOR LOUNGE KoCoo” (hereafter KoCoo), located airside in Narita Airport Terminal 2.

When using Narita Airport Terminal 2,

“I want to eat a relaxed meal before departure”
“Where’s a good lounge I can use with Priority Pass?”
I imagine many of you are wondering about these.

This lounge, which opened in 2023, answers exactly those needs.

In this article, I (Joe) visited the lounge myself and explain, based on firsthand experience, the points worth knowing before you go, from the hard-to-find route to the specific buffet lineup and how comfortable the lounge is.

The official name of “KoCoo” is I.A.S.S SUPERIOR LOUNGE Kokuu -KoCoo-.

It’s the first full-fledged airside lounge in Terminal 2, opened in July 2023 by IASS (I.A.S.S. Co., Ltd.), which manages Narita Airport.

It’s located in the restricted area after immigration, on the 4th floor of the main building (M20 area). Since you can only enter after passing through immigration, the biggest advantage is that you can relax right up until boarding time.

Use requires a Priority Pass or another eligible card, and gold cards are not eligible.

You can also get in with the Priority Pass that comes with the Rakuten Premium Card, but note that it counts toward the annual limit of 5 free visits.

First, let me introduce the location.

It’s on the 4th floor (M20 area) of “Narita 5-Bangai,” not far from the immigration checkpoint of Narita Airport Terminal 2.

You need to go up from the duty-free area on the 3rd floor by a dedicated elevator, and the elevator has a sign guiding you to the lounge, so I think it’s easy to understand.

Entering, check-in, and the interior

As soon as you step out of the elevator, the lounge comes into view straight ahead.

What catches your eye at the entrance is the vivid purple noren curtain. The “Ko Coo” lettering and circular logo give it a Japanese look you recognize at a glance.

To check in, I needed my Priority Pass membership QR code and my boarding pass.

The time limit is 2 hours, so be careful.

An artificial-turf-like green covers the entire wall of the passage, and Ghibli film posters are displayed, a unique presentation that evokes Japanese culture.

Salads include lettuce, cucumber, edamame, and mixed beans, and you can customize them to your taste with dressings.

For fruit, besides fresh fruit like pineapple and grapefruit, you can also enjoy yogurt and fruit punch.

Stylish airtight glass bottles hold cookies, rice crackers, and mixed nuts, so you can choose to your liking.

At the alcohol corner is a fully automatic beer server that pours at the push of a button.

The beer in the dedicated ASAHI SUPER DRY mug looks delicious!

To the left of the beer is a “Taru Hi Club” server where you can enjoy lemon sours and more, so you can choose according to your mood!

There’s also a dedicated dispenser that keeps carefully selected drinks in optimal condition.

Four are available: Miyozakura Junmai Ginjo, Zaku, Chuo Budoshu Grace Wine, and Chateau Mercian.

The wines are all Japanese, but since it’s before your flight, enjoy your alcohol with plenty of care ♪

The soft drink corner offers choices like Coca-Cola, sparkling water, and Real Gold.

Next to it on the left is an ice machine, so you can quench your thirst at your preferred coldness. A well-stocked lineup that’s perfect for people who don’t drink alcohol, or for refreshing while waiting for your flight!!

At the hot meal corner, appetizing warm dishes are lined up.

Hearty items such as short pasta and juicy fried chicken are available.

Large pots are piled high with Napolitan spaghetti and freshly fried french fries.
It’s also nice that you can enjoy your meal while it’s always warm.

The last of the hot meals is packed with broccoli, bell peppers, zucchini and more, and I’m glad to be able to eat lots of vegetables that tend to be lacking.

On the menu board installed at the buffet counter, you can order to your liking.

For meals, besides menu items familiar to Japanese people such as hot soba, Japanese-style curry, and dry curry, Nagoya’s famous Ogura toast is also on the lineup.

To meet diverse food needs, items like chili beans over rice and Japanese-style minestrone are also prepared.

There’s anmitsu for dessert and homemade cola for drinks, a full lineup that lets you enjoy even the time after the meal.

The items I plated from the buffet were a highly satisfying lineup, balanced for nutrition too.

The Napolitan spaghetti had a rich, nostalgic flavor that was delicious enough to make me smile.

A recommended combination for when you’re a little hungry or want a proper meal is dry curry and minestrone.

Though a Western-style soup, it also has a Japanese taste and goes wonderfully with the dry curry!!

The seating area in the lounge is a modern, calm space designed in gray tones.
Roomy single sofa seats are lined up, and each seat has a round side table handy for working or light snacks.

Of course, power outlets are provided beside every seat, making it a very comfortable environment for those who want to charge their phone or camera or do some PC work before boarding.

Beyond a nostalgic sign reading “Kuso Kissa Kokuu” (Fantasy Café Kokuu), there were actual retro arcade game machines installed.

An environment where you can actually play classic games like Pac-Man is nostalgic for Japanese people, and probably a perfect spot for foreign tourists to experience “Cool Japan.”

The space, where the comfort of the latest facilities coexists with Showa-retro playfulness, gave a big boost to the excitement of the trip ahead.

[Summary] Who KoCoo is recommended for

Who KoCoo is recommended for

This time, I visited the KoCoo Lounge at Narita Airport Terminal 2 and reported on it.

As a lounge you can enter with Priority Pass, I was top-class satisfied in all of food quality, facilities, and atmosphere.

This is especially recommended for people like these.

  • You have a Priority Pass or an eligible card
  • You want to enjoy a proper meal and drinks before departure
  • You want to use the time until boarding effectively for PC work or charging
  • You want to enjoy a Showa-retro atmosphere and Japanese cultural presentation

On the other hand, these people may find it lacking.

  • You want to use a shower (no facilities)
  • You expect a hearty meal
  • You want a quiet private room or work environment

All in all, this is a lounge you should use without hesitation if you have a Priority Pass. Right now, nothing other than KoCoo offers this level of free service on the airside of Narita T2.
