The twin room is a roomy 23㎡, more spacious than Kofu’s 18㎡.
In the stay report I explained that Mt. Fuji is visible from the women’s open-air bath, while it’s difficult from the men’s side because of the direction.
In winter, houtou with oysters is on the breakfast menu.

Photo Comparison | Differences You Only Know by Staying at Both
Rooms | Bed Layout and Size

Marunouchi’s twin room is 23㎡, with two 120 × 195 cm beds.
There’s room between the beds, so it’s roomy enough for two to spread out their luggage.

Kofu was a room with two beds side by side.
The twin room is 18㎡, with two 100 × 195 cm beds, according to the information.
Being compact, the area around the beds is neatly arranged.
If you want to relax in comfort, the roomier Marunouchi is recommended.
Bathroom Area | Only Kofu Has a Bathtub

Marunouchi’s rooms have a simple bathroom setup with a toilet and shower booth side by side, and no bathtub.

Kofu’s rooms have a bathroom with a bathtub.
If you want to warm up quickly in your room before heading to the large public bath, Kofu suits you.
Sauna, Cold Plunge, and Open-Air Bath | Auto-Loyly vs. High-Temperature Dry

Kofu’s sauna has auto-loyly every 20 minutes.
The heater is the “iki” by METOS.
In the December 2025 renovation, auto-loyly and a cold plunge chiller were introduced, powering it up.
I stayed in April 2026, so it was the post-renovation equipment.
The top tier was seriously hot.
If the sauna is your priority, it’s definitely Kofu.
The cold plunge has a chiller and a water temperature of 16℃.
Kofu’s baths, for both men and women, have one hot indoor bath, an auto-loyly sauna (with TV), a chiller-equipped cold plunge, and one open-air bath.
The relaxation chairs number 1 indoor and 4 outdoor on the men’s side, and 4 outdoor on the women’s side.

Marunouchi’s sauna is a high-temperature dry type with an LCD TV.
Kofu’s sauna also has a TV, so the difference is whether there’s auto-loyly.
With a proper sauna over 90℃ and a cold plunge of around 15 to 16℃, I could fully enjoy the hot-and-cold cycle!
Marunouchi’s baths, for both men and women, have one hot indoor bath, a high-temperature dry sauna (with TV), a chiller-equipped cold plunge, one open-air bath, and one pot bath.
The relaxation chairs are 2 outdoors for both men and women.

Kofu’s open-air bath has a Japanese atmosphere, surrounded by a wooden fence and garden stones.
The water temperature is 41 to 43℃.
Insect sounds played as background music, and I could even see the moon.
It’s a wonderful time to enjoy Kofu’s nature.

Marunouchi has an open-air bath with a stone tub and a pot bath.
In the stay report I explained that Mt. Fuji is visible from the women’s open-air bath, while it’s difficult from the men’s side because of the direction.
Late-Night Ramen | Free at Both

Marunouchi’s late-night ramen is soy sauce ramen topped with green onion, bamboo shoots, wakame, and a soft-boiled egg.

Kofu’s late-night ramen is old-fashioned soy sauce ramen topped with nori and bamboo shoots.
Both are served free at the 1st-floor restaurant from 21:30 to 23:00.
Breakfast | The Houtou Differences Are Interesting
Both breakfasts are buffets at the 1st-floor restaurant “HATAGO.”
Hours are 6:30 to 9:30 (last entry 9:00), and the breakfast-only price is ¥2,000 for adults.
The signs list Yamanashi’s local dish “houtou” and “torimotsu.”
Whichever you stay at, you can enjoy a Yamanashi-style breakfast.
The differences are the type of houtou and the other featured dish.
| Breakfast comparison | Dormy Inn Kofu | Dormy Inn Kofu Marunouchi |
| Houtou | Soy-sauce-based (noted as spring-only) | With oysters in winter only |
| Torimotsu | Yes | Yes |
| Other dish on the sign | Stir-fried Fujizakura pork belly | Koshu wine beef stew, Yatsugatake milk and yogurt |
Marunouchi Breakfast | Oyster Houtou in Winter

Marunouchi’s sign has “houtou” and “torimotsu” written large.
The houtou was with oysters, in winter only.

The hearty oyster houtou is the highlight.
The information says it’s characterized by a firmer, chewier texture than ordinary udon.

Torimotsu is a dish of chicken liver, heart, and gizzard seasoned with a sweet-and-savory sauce.
Kofu Breakfast | Soy-Sauce-Based Houtou

Kofu’s sign says “Yamanashi Specialties BUFFET.”
Houtou, torimotsu, and stir-fried Fujizakura pork belly were lined up.
I stayed in spring, and the houtou was “spring-only.”

Kofu’s specialty is soy-sauce-based houtou.

Thick, flat noodles topped with plenty of green onions and ingredients.
In summer, “houtou ozara,” eaten dipped in cold sauce, is also lined up.
To compare the houtou, staying at both is best.
For winter oyster houtou, Marunouchi; for the soy-sauce-based style and ozara in spring through summer, Kofu.
Choose to suit the season.
Comparison by Item
Location and Access
You can walk to both from the south exit of Kofu Station.
Marunouchi is about an 8-minute walk, and Kofu about 10.
Marunouchi faces a main avenue.
Kofu is near a shopping street.
At night there are plenty of places to eat, such as izakaya, close to the hotel, which is Kofu’s strength.
If you want to enjoy dinner outside the hotel, Kofu is far more convenient.
Marunouchi is about 5 minutes on foot from Maizuru Castle Park, a location close to sightseeing spots.
I’ve summarized a guide to the area around Kofu in this article.
Hot Spring and Sauna
Both have a natural hot spring large public bath, with bathing hours of 15:00 to 10:00 the next day.
The difference is the sauna: Kofu has auto-loyly, and Marunouchi is high-temperature dry.
Both saunas have TV.
For relaxation chairs outdoors, Kofu has 4 and Marunouchi 2, so Kofu has more.
The hot springs also have different names: Kofu’s is “Kaiji no Yu” and Marunouchi’s is “Shoun no Yu.”
For the sauna, definitely Kofu; if you also want a Mt. Fuji view, Marunouchi (women’s side).
Remembering these two makes it easy to choose.
Free Services

Late-night ramen, post-bath ice cream, and the lactic acid drink are at both.
The ice cream hours differ slightly: 15:00 to 26:00 at Kofu and 15:00 to 25:00 at Marunouchi.
The lactic acid drink is from 5:00 to 10:00 in the morning at both.
For the welcome drink, both had grape juice.
It’s rich and cold, the kind you want to keep refilling.
Parking

If you’re driving, it’s reassuring to check the parking conditions.
Kofu is as shown in the photo: a partner lot with 58 spaces, ¥1,000 per night, up to 1.5 m high.
Marunouchi has 30 spaces at ¥1,100 per night, first come first served, no reservations.
Marunouchi’s is a multi-level lot with an entry height limit of 2.05 m.
If you’re driving, Kofu, with its ample spaces, is the safer choice.

- Marunouchi: Some say the open-air bath feels great, that it’s neither too big nor too small and let them relax, and that breakfast has many items. Breakfast reportedly can have waits at peak hours.
