In this article, I’ll share my impressions and review after actually staying at Hotel Hanshin Osaka.

Who Is Hotel Hanshin Osaka a Good Fit For?

There are around 35 hotels in the Osaka/Fukushima area, and being a major city in the Kansai region, it draws plenty of guests for both business and leisure.
This time I chose Hotel Hanshin Osaka for a leisure trip to Osaka, and after actually staying there, here’s who I think it’s best suited for:
- Someone who wants to see Osaka’s night view from their room
- Someone who wants to relax at a hotel with a spa & sauna
- Someone who wants to stay as close as possible to USJ
Let me explain each point in order.
First: someone who wants to see Osaka’s night view from their room.
Even without a room upgrade, Hotel Hanshin Osaka guarantees a room on the 14th floor or higher, so you get a sweeping, genuinely beautiful view of Osaka’s night skyline.
I’ll show photos later, but with the “leave the room type to us” booking option, the room I stayed in ended up being on the 22nd floor.
Second: someone who wants to relax at a hotel with a spa & sauna.
The 6th floor has a women’s spa & sauna, and the 7th floor has a men’s spa & sauna, with natural hot spring water drawn from underground — something you can also enjoy any time, right in your own room.
Lastly: someone who wants to stay as close as possible to USJ.
From Hotel Hanshin Osaka to USJ is about 7.5km, roughly 15 minutes by car, and it’s also about 15 minutes by train (with one transfer).
Starting in February 2023, a collaboration with ‘SPY×FAMILY’ kicks off too, so USJ is sure to remain a hugely popular theme park to watch.
This time, since I wanted to enjoy the night view while also taking it easy at the spa & sauna, I looked for a hotel around the Fukushima area and settled on this one.
Access to Hotel Hanshin Osaka
Hotel Hanshin Osaka is a 1-minute walk from Fukushima Station on the JR Osaka Loop Line (about 30 seconds if the crosswalk light is green), and it’s a hotel where natural hot spring water, drawn from roughly 1,000m underground, can be enjoyed in every single room.
Rooms are on the 14th floor and above, giving a high chance of enjoying Osaka’s night view from your room, and the hotel also has its own spa & sauna facilities (discounted for guests).
The area around the hotel has plenty of fast food, restaurants, and izakayas, and there’s even a convenience store and a Tully’s Coffee in the same building, so you’ll have no trouble finding something to eat.
Hotel Hanshin Osaka’s Plans and Rates

Since I wanted to really indulge in Osaka’s food scene this trip, I booked a room-only plan through Rakuten Travel and left the room type up to the hotel.
As it turned out, I ended up with breakfast included, and the room rate came to ¥8,514. This was on a weekday during the lull between Golden Week holidays in May.
For a great location with a night view like this, that price is a steal!

Overview of Hotel Hanshin Osaka

Now let me walk through the details of my stay at Hotel Hanshin Osaka.
On the day of my stay, I walked over from Fukushima Station on the JR Osaka Loop Line. Coming out of the ticket gate, I could immediately spot the Hotel Hanshin Osaka building, so there was no chance of getting lost.
By the way, there’s no dedicated hotel parking lot — there’s a shared underground parking garage with 48 spaces, available 24 hours for ¥3,000. Pretty pricey, but that’s central Osaka for you…
Standing right in front, I spotted the “HOTEL HANSHIN” sign! Confirmed I was in the right place.
Check-In

Walking through the main entrance, a large lily arrangement greeted me right away, with a Tully’s Coffee visible just beyond it.

The front desk was right to the right — large enough to serve three parties at once, so it felt fairly spacious.
Since I had a room-only plan, the explanation was quick, and check-in was done in no time!
I was told the guest elevators were toward the back right, so I headed straight for my room.

The front desk is on the 1st floor, restaurants are on the 2nd and 3rd floors, the spa and beauty treatments are on the 6th and 7th floors, and floors 14 through 23 are all guest rooms.

My room was on the 22nd floor. Even with a room-only plan, I couldn’t believe I was given a room just one floor below the top — what a treat!
The elevator hall had a calm, beige-toned atmosphere, very fitting for a hotel.

The hallway had the polished feel of a high-end hotel. The lighting was just right — not too dim.
The Room

I arrived at room 2223. The room key was a card-key type.

The room was a Hollywood twin, about 20㎡. Twin beds for a solo stay — such a luxury to have all that space to myself!

The beds were made perfectly, with no gaps, and there were two robes provided. I figured I’d use one today and the other tomorrow.

On top of the robe was a card with the name of today’s housekeeping staff.

The TV was positioned a bit high up, but I’ll let that slide.

The mineral water placed in front of the TV was a free service — and there were two bottles of it! Lucky.

A turntable and a humidifier, plus a small table that’s handy for setting things down — a nice touch.

There was a desk and chair beside the bed. You could probably get some light work done here. The outlet was also close to the bed, which was handy for charging my phone.

Opening the cabinet next to the TV revealed a T-fal electric kettle and cups.
Green tea and black tea are available at the amenity bar next to the 1st-floor front desk.

Below that was the mini fridge — not quite big enough for a large PET bottle, but I confirmed a standard 500ml bottle fits fine. There’s barely any freezer space, but an ice bar would fit.

Opening the door near the entrance, I found 4 hangers, a fabric refresher spray, in-room slippers below, and a passcode-entry safe.
4 hangers for a solo stay is a nice touch (the room is originally designed for two).
Bathroom, Toilet, and Sink

The bathroom, toilet, and sink are an all-in-one unit. It’s not overly cramped, and the bath and toilet are positioned with enough separation to feel clean.

At the sink: a body towel, a hairdryer, and a cup.

Amenity goods like a hairbrush, razor, and toothbrush are available near the 1st-floor front desk.

This is one of the hotel’s big selling points — natural hot spring water right in your room. Since it’s a real hot spring, be careful of burns.
I ran the water, and sure enough, it was hot!!

The amenities are from the “Provencia” line, developed specifically for hotels. Made with organic plant extracts, they lather nicely and have a gentle, soothing scent.
Hotel Hanshin Osaka’s Spa & Sauna

The men’s spa & sauna is on the 7th floor, so I decided to check it out.

Right next to the entrance were shoe lockers — quite a lot of them, even though it’s men-only.

I paid for the spa & sauna at this counter. Walk-in day guests pay a fairly steep ¥2,750, but showing my room key got me the guest discount rate of ¥800.
When you think of it as the price of admission to the sauna, that’s a steal.

An extra bath towel is ¥50, and various massages are available too, typically around ¥1,200 per 10 minutes.

The lockers seemed built with overnight guests in mind — on the smaller side, and a bit narrow side to side, so it could get stressful if it were crowded. It was fairly sparse when I was there, though.

In the locker I found a set of blue sauna shorts and a bath towel waiting.
For some reason there were three small towels too!!

This photo of the spa interior is from the official website. The cold bath is on the right near the front, and the two baths toward the back are the main bath and a jacuzzi bath.
The jacuzzi was at just the right temperature — very relaxing.
The cold bath was deep enough to fully submerge in. At around 15°C, it’s genuinely cold.
Further in, there’s a small open-air space (men only) with an open-air bath and two chairs for outdoor air bathing.

The dry sauna has low humidity, runs at around 90°C, and has an L-shaped two-tier layout spacious enough for about 15 people.
There were no kick-boards, but hardly anyone wore sauna shorts — most people just sat directly on a sauna mat.
Probably because it’s attached to a hotel rather than a dedicated sauna facility, it wasn’t crowded enough to need to wait, unlike some of the more popular sauna spots.
It opens at 10am, so no early-morning sauna sessions, unfortunately. And paying extra just for that felt a bit much.

The powder room was spacious and clean.

A full range of Lucido hair tonic products was also available.
The Night View From the Room at Hotel Hanshin Osaka
By the time I got back from the spa, it was already night.
So, what does the night view actually look like from a 22nd-floor room?

Wow — it’s absolutely stunning!

It was so beautiful I couldn’t help zooming in with my camera through the window.
Even the Umeda Sky Building was clearly visible. Just like the official website claimed, the night view of Osaka from the room really is as stunning as advertised — no exaggeration at all.
Breakfast at Hotel Hanshin Osaka

I’d originally planned to grab breakfast at a nearby café since I’d booked a room-only plan, but after seeing the Japanese set-meal menu, I got a craving for the hotel breakfast and added it at the front desk for ¥2,200. Haha.
Apparently, due to preparation requirements, you need to apply by the day before.

Breakfast is served at Marché Dining NeN on the 2nd floor.

The restaurant entrance says “NeN” — that’s the place. Hand over your breakfast ticket and you’ll be shown to a table.

I ordered the Japanese breakfast set, and the portion was more than my photo could even capture.
Buffet-style breakfasts are common, but I actually prefer a single-plate set — less movement around you, more relaxed eating, and above all, it keeps you from overeating.

There’s a drink counter — order whatever you like, and hotel staff will pour it for you.
Options included orange juice, apple juice, tomato juice, grapefruit juice, milk, hojicha, coffee, and black tea.
My Overall Impressions After Staying at Hotel Hanshin Osaka

I used this hotel as my base for a trip to Osaka!
Since it’s not a 5-star hotel, I wasn’t expecting too much from the night view out of the room, but it exceeded my expectations in the best way — I genuinely enjoyed taking it in.
The spa & sauna, one of the things I was looking forward to, does require an extra ¥800 even for guests, but the sauna was spacious, let me focus on sweating properly, and I could follow it up with some outdoor air bathing — I left feeling thoroughly refreshed.
Breakfast was a little light on fresh vegetables, which was slightly disappointing, but the rice was delicious, and overall it felt worth the price!
