This time I picked ANA InterContinental Manza Beach Resort for an Okinawa resort trip, and after actually staying there, here’s who I think this hotel is really made for!

The atrium lobby with its striking open ceiling, the “Ocean Cafe,” the “Spa & Wellness Wing” perfect for unwinding — the in-house facilities here are seriously packed.

You never even have to leave the hotel to spend a gorgeous, unhurried afternoon looking out over the ocean.

2. Anyone who wants plenty of marine activities and in-house events

Second, if you want to soak up experiences and events that only a tropical resort can give you, this is it.

The private-feeling beach right in front of the hotel has Manza Ocean Park (a floating obstacle course on the water) and all kinds of marine sports.

Depending on the season there are also events like fireworks, so kids and adults alike can stay entertained all day long!

3. Anyone who wants an efficient home base in the center of Okinawa’s main island

ANA InterContinental Manza Beach Resort sits in Onna Village, which is basically dead center on Okinawa’s main island.

For a trip up and down the long, narrow main island, you honestly couldn’t ask for a better location!

Right next door to the hotel is “Manzamo,” the dramatic cliff-top viewpoint I actually photographed myself on my iPhone — it really does look like the picture.

Walking over there to watch the sunset is one of the best experiences you can have here!

This time I stayed in a “Mid-Floor Beach View” room (32㎡) on one of the mid-high floors (5th-8th).

Opening the door, I was greeted by an elegant blue-and-white interior inspired by Manza’s clear water and coral reefs — instant resort mode!

Now let’s take a proper look at ANA InterContinental Manza Beach Resort, where I actually stayed.

Being an ANA InterContinental, the grounds are, as expected, massive. Seriously huge!

Besides the main hotel building there’s a beach zone and a separate beach building. Getting the overall layout in your head early makes moving around during your stay so much smoother.

Arriving at the hotel, you’re welcomed by gorgeous white architecture set against the blue sky, an iconic arched entrance, and a row of stately palm trees!

The nameplate out front is the perfect spot for that “I’ve officially arrived in an Okinawa resort!” photo.

Past the entrance, there’s a sleek check-in counter tucked into a corner of the spacious lobby.

Vivid blue accent lighting against white walls, paired with mosaic tile below the counter, seems to conjure up “Okinawa’s beautiful sea” — such a refreshing space!

Opening the door, a bright, airy room opens up with light streaming in through the large window at the far end!

This room’s interior design is elegant, with vivid blue accents inspired by Manza’s clear water and coral reefs.

Calm dark-brown flooring rounds out the upscale, resort-worthy feel.

The bed is so soft! One night here and any long-flight fatigue is completely reset.

The pillow height was just right too — I slept great whether on my side or my back.

By the window there’s a cozy single armchair you can really sink into.

The cushion — vivid blue with a salmon-pink coral print — is such a Manza-resort touch!

Open the curtains and there’s the ocean, right in front of you — a true ocean view!

Falling asleep at night to the sound of the waves is pure luxury.

A large wall-mounted TV sits front and center in the room.

The space-saving layout means you can watch comfortably from bed!

Going over to the desk, I found a sweet birthday gift the hotel had prepared!

I’d mentioned it was a birthday stay ahead of time, and the surprise really touched me.

They’d even left a little yellow hand towel as a thoughtful extra touch!

Storage space was plenty generous — no problem at all fully unpacking a suitcase.

A welcome card had been quietly placed out at check-in, and that small gesture really got me.

Inside a drawer I found an electric kettle.

Pulling out the chest under the desk revealed a neatly folded, hotel-original set of nightwear.

White with blue piping, and “INTERCONTINENTAL MANZA” embroidered on the chest pocket — resort details right down to the sleepwear!

Inside a Mid-Floor Beach View twin room

The room I was shown to this time was room 843, on the top floor of the mid-floor section!

The room number in bright blue against the white door, with its dotted design, felt so refreshingly Okinawan.

The bathroom has a good-sized tub you can properly relax in!

The toilet sits right next to the unit bath, but it’s a clean, all-white space, and the emerald-green mosaic tile in the corner gives it a refreshing resort touch.

The sink area is nice and roomy too — zero stress even with two people getting ready at once.

Everything felt spotless and it was genuinely pleasant to use!

There were enough crisp, freshly laundered face towels for everyone.

Easy to miss, but there’s a bathrobe tucked into the drawer too.

The moment you step inside, the spiraling open atrium hits you first. My excitement was already through the roof at check-in!

The first thing that overwhelms you inside is the massive atrium lobby, open straight through the middle. It photographs beautifully from every angle, and it instantly makes the whole “I’m at a resort” feeling click.

The first floor also has a large communal bath, dry sauna, and Spa & Wellness facilities! Massage options range from short sessions to full-body courses.

There’s a hotel shop and a craft shop too, and browsing for souvenirs ends up being surprisingly fun.

There’s even a gel-candle-making experience corner! You won’t be bored even on a rainy day.

There’s a full cafe and bar too! Whether it’s a cold drink by the pool or a nightcap, you can enjoy either depending on your mood.

Even the hallways are photogenic! Getting from place to place became its own little part of the fun.

Kids’ services are pretty thorough too — there’s a “Haisai Manza Stamp Rally,” plus free rental of baby cribs and kids’ toilet seats. There’s also lifeguard coverage at the beach, so you can let the kids play with peace of mind.

The garden pool, Manza Beach, and Manza Ocean Park

This hotel is so much more than just rooms and restaurants. The on-site facilities are incredibly rich too — you won’t get bored even on a multi-night stay!

The garden pool is within walking distance of the beach! Parasols, deck chairs, towels, and wetsuits are all free to rent.

Looking up at the hotel from poolside is quite a sight! Being able to enjoy it fully without worrying about extra fees is the best part.

The moment I lay down on a deck chair, I was fully switched into tropical mode.

You can snorkel by boat over the house reef! Guided tours with a professional instructor are available too, so even beginners are covered.

There are shaded rest spots along the beach too, so you can settle in and enjoy the ocean view out of direct sun.

Watching the sunset from the beach in the evening is genuinely moving! The perfect way to close out the day.

Once the sun goes down, the pool lights up and takes on an entirely different, dreamlike mood from daytime. I’d definitely recommend a stroll over to see it before or after dinner.

The 2-Meal Plan: Dinner & Breakfast Buffet Report

Dinner is a buffet at the restaurant “Aqua Belle.” Live cooking stations keep freshly made hot dishes coming out one after another. As you can see in the photos, the range covers everything from Okinawan-ingredient dishes to colorful desserts — going with the 2-meal plan was absolutely the right call!

The moment I stepped through the entrance, the open ceiling and the garden greenery hit me at once — my excitement was already sky-high.

At the Hawaiian-themed live cooking station, a chef finishes the dish right in front of you! It’s exciting just to watch.

I also found a DIY poke bowl corner! Picking your own toppings to build a bowl that’s entirely yours was more fun than I expected.

According to reviews, the dinner highlight is supposedly an Ishigaki beef steak! Apparently starting with the vegetables is the trick to not having regrets.

Sweet and sour pork, green curry — the range across Japanese, Western, and Chinese cuisine is honestly huge.

The lineup was seriously overwhelming to choose from!

There’s a dim sum and steamed-dish corner too, and it’s genuinely delicious.

Western dishes like pasta are covered too — no gaps in the lineup at all!

There were even fresh oysters lined up, and honestly, I thought “this isn’t hotel-buffet level anymore…”

The seafood lined up on ice was so lavish it kept my excitement going nonstop.

The colorful salads meant I could get my vegetables in guilt-free.

The prosciutto-and-fruit combo plate already looked like a feast on its own.

And the crowning touch: a chocolate fountain! Kids and adults alike are guaranteed to get excited here.

Fresh strawberries and other fruit were plentiful too, so you can’t let your guard down even at dessert time.

Finished it off with coffee and sata andagi (Okinawan doughnuts) — a satisfying, Okinawa-flavored finale.

Outside the window, Manza’s ocean stretches out! It’s especially beautiful at sunset, and being able to enjoy this view during dinner without going anywhere is just the best. If you want the sunset, aim to be seated about 30 minutes before it goes down.

There’s also a Japanese restaurant, “Unkai,” in the hotel, plus another spot where you can enjoy Agu pork shabu-shabu while watching a traditional Ryukyu performance! These aren’t included in the 2-meal plan, though — they’re a la carte.

Breakfast buffet: signature dishes, hours, and how to avoid the crowds

Breakfast is served in a bright dining room filled with morning light. Here are the actual plates I put together — omelets and fresh-baked bread, of course, but also Okinawa soba and sata andagi even in the morning.

The made-to-order omelet station is hugely popular — eggs finished right in front of you. It makes the morning feel special.

I paired it with freshly cooked bacon on one plate. This good, this early — it should almost be against the rules.

With a cup of freshly brewed coffee, it turned into a wonderfully indulgent way to start the day.

Freshly baked croissants led an enormous bread lineup — it took me a while just to decide.

The bread corner alone was already a whole morning’s worth of entertainment.

The salad bar was lined with fresh vegetables! A satisfying way to get real nutrition in even at breakfast.

The grilled items, like sausages, were plentiful too! Plenty filling.

There are noodles and rice dishes too, so you can go either Japanese or Western style — a nice option to have.

I also spotted Okinawan side dishes like goya champuru! Adding a bit to your Western plate makes for a plate that’s uniquely of the trip.

With just a little care in plating, my plate turned out this colorful.

There was so much to choose from that I couldn’t stop trying a little of everything!

Window seats look right out over Manza’s ocean! Eating breakfast bathed in morning light was something else entirely. Right after opening is your best shot at snagging one.

Breakfast runs from early morning, and dinner from evening into the night as the base hours! Exact times shift by season, so check for the latest before you go.

• It’s a buffet, so you take exactly as much as you want — great for kids and light eaters alike

On the other hand, here’s what I want to be upfront about!

• Dinner is fixed to “Aqua Belle” — restaurants like “Unkai” are separate, a la carte
• On a multi-night stay, you’ll hit the same buffet repeatedly and might notice some menu overlap
• Operating hours are fixed, so a late check-in needs some planning
• During busy periods you might wait a little for a seat or at a live station
