This time I’ll cover dinner options within the Hoshino Resorts Tomamu area in Hokkaido.
As a full resort, Hoshino Resorts Tomamu has several restaurants, and being able to handle everything within the property is a huge plus.
I tried several restaurants during my winter stay at Hoshino Resorts TOMAMU The Tower, so this article is written for anyone who wants to know “what restaurants are available” or “which restaurant is worth it based on price and taste” — I hope you’ll read all the way through.
I’ve also covered my full stay at Hoshino Resorts TOMAMU The Tower in a separate article — take a look if you’re interested.

That’s because Hotaru Street is easy to reach from all three of The Tower, RISONARE, and the ski slopes.
This time, I’ll introduce the restaurants and shops on Hotaru Street that are easy to reach from any direction and offer great value.

Recommended Dinner Spots at Hoshino Resorts Tomamu

Here are the 3 restaurants and shops on Hotaru Street I’d most recommend for great value.
- Hearth-Grilled Steak & Teppan Hamburg — Camaro Steak Diner
- Soup Curry — Tomamu no Mori — GARAKU
- Noodle Shop Takezo (TAKEZO)
Every one of these places delivers on quality — I can recommend all three with full confidence!!
Let’s take a closer look at each.
Recommended Dinner #1: Hearth-Grilled Steak & Teppan Hamburg — Camaro Steak Diner

First up is a steak dining spot that grills high-quality branded beef over a hearth.
Their signature item is Kobukuro branded beef — Japanese Black Wagyu raised on kombu (kelp) native to Hidaka, Hokkaido.
Thanks to the kombu, this rare Hokkaido wagyu has extra depth and richness you can really taste!
When it’s busy, you write down your name and phone number, and they call your number when your table’s ready. Such a relief.

There’s a freezer near the entrance displaying a huge block of meat.
The presence is unreal!

Kobukuro shoulder loin steak runs ¥5,500 for 150g or ¥11,000 for 300g, and the Kobukuro sirloin steak runs ¥6,800 for 150g or ¥13,600 for 300g — pricey, but these are the signature menu items.
This time, the staff recommended the more affordable Ezo venison steak!
So that’s what I ordered.

At ¥3,800 for 150g, it’s a great-value steak. I added an onion soup and rice for an extra ¥600.
My companion also ordered the venison steak after hearing the recommendation.

When it was served, it was cooked mostly rare, leaning medium-rare. One nice touch: there’s a hot stone on the teppan plate, so you can adjust the doneness to medium yourself if you prefer!

It has a satisfying meaty bite without being tough, and the flavor is lighter than I expected — genuinely delicious!

Recommended Dinner #2: Soup Curry — Tomamu no Mori — GARAKU

Next up is a soup curry restaurant built around the concept of Japanese-style dashi, deep umami flavor, and a secret spice blend. GARAKU, which also has locations in Susukino, Sapporo and along the Chuo Line in Tokyo, has a branch here in Tomamu too.
Soup curry is one of Hokkaido’s signature dishes, after all.

What really sets this place apart is its secret spice blend! There are a staggering 40 levels of spice, from 1 to 40.
From level 6, piquin pepper gets added, and from level 20, habanero joins in too — a true spice-lover killer!
Past level 20, it reportedly becomes genuinely hard to tell just how spicy it even is anymore.

The core menu is soup curry, with options featuring Hokkaido-sourced ingredients and even filet steak. Everything looks delicious.
You choose from 8 menu options, pick your spice level, and finally choose your rice portion.

They also offer side dishes and wines that pair well with soup curry.
I also spotted lassi on the menu, which for some reason always feels tempting to order alongside soup curry.

I ordered the seared simmered pork belly and vegetable soup curry for ¥2,000, which comes with a medium rice.
I went with spice level 4. Even from the photo, you can tell it’s packing some serious spice already.
It’s a bit pricier than other locations, but within Tomamu it’s still a good value — I’ll let that slide.

Braised pork belly soaked in a spicy soup curry! Just looking back at this photo makes my mouth water.
Mixed with the slightly chewy turmeric rice, it’s absolutely perfect! The depth of flavor and umami were incredible!
As for the spice level — yes, level 4 genuinely has a real kick to it. It really is as spicy as advertised, so if you’re not great with spice, I’d stick to around level 2.
If it’s not spicy enough for you, there’s spice available on the table to add to taste.

Seating is mostly tables, with some counter seats available too.

Recommended Dinner #3: Noodle Shop Takezo (TAKEZO)

Last up is Takezo, the only ramen shop within the Hoshino Resorts property.
Since it’s also easy to reach directly from the slopes during the day, it’s a popular spot that’s consistently busy.

I ordered the scallop shoyu ramen for ¥1,300 along with gyoza for ¥800.
It’s a light, clear ramen built on a scallop-based broth, topped with scallops, menma, koji, green onion, radish sprouts, chashu, and a quail egg.
Despite the pronounced scallop broth, the flavor was surprisingly light. The three scallops on top were simply delicious.

A generous plate of 10 gyoza.

On a different day, I visited the same shop again and ordered the shrimp miso ramen for ¥1,300.
The pork-bone-and-seafood broth gets extra umami from shrimp powder and shrimp oil, and with each sip, the shrimp flavor spreads through your mouth.
