Who Should Stay at ANA InterContinental Manza Beach Resort

Exterior and beach of ANA InterContinental Manza Beach Resort

en-ana-manza-resort

This time I picked ANA InterContinental Manza Beach Resort for an Okinawa resort trip, and after actually staying there, here’s who I think this hotel is really made for!

  • Anyone who wants to spend a relaxed stay in open, spacious surroundings with full facilities
  • Anyone who wants to enjoy plenty of marine activities and on-site events
  • Anyone who wants a central base on Okinawa’s main island for efficient sightseeing

1. Anyone who wants to relax in open spaces with rich in-house facilities

Cafe and bar counter inside the hotel

The atrium lobby with its striking open ceiling, the “Ocean Cafe,” the “Spa & Wellness Wing” perfect for unwinding — the in-house facilities here are seriously packed.

You never even have to leave the hotel to spend a gorgeous, unhurried afternoon looking out over the ocean.

2. Anyone who wants plenty of marine activities and in-house events

Private beach in front of the hotel

Second, if you want to soak up experiences and events that only a tropical resort can give you, this is it.

The private-feeling beach right in front of the hotel has Manza Ocean Park (a floating obstacle course on the water) and all kinds of marine sports.

Depending on the season there are also events like fireworks, so kids and adults alike can stay entertained all day long!

3. Anyone who wants an efficient home base in the center of Okinawa’s main island

Manzamo cliffs near the hotel

ANA InterContinental Manza Beach Resort sits in Onna Village, which is basically dead center on Okinawa’s main island.

For a trip up and down the long, narrow main island, you honestly couldn’t ask for a better location!

Right next door to the hotel is “Manzamo,” the dramatic cliff-top viewpoint I actually photographed myself on my iPhone — it really does look like the picture.

Walking over there to watch the sunset is one of the best experiences you can have here!

Getting to ANA InterContinental Manza Beach Resort

ANA InterContinental Manza Beach Resort is a luxury resort hotel built on a scenic point jutting into the Manza Strait in Onna Village, Okinawa — the whole property doubles as a resort facility, set in an area known for its beautiful coral-reef waters and nature.

By car / rental car

  • Via the Okinawa Expressway: about 15 minutes by car from Yaka IC via local roads and Route 58 (roughly 50-60 minutes total from Naha Airport using the expressway).
  • Via local roads only: about 80-90 minutes heading north on Route 58.

Buses take a bit more time to plan around timetables and transfers, so honestly, a rental car gives you the most freedom and is the way to go.

On top of the convenience of driving yourself, guests can use the hotel’s huge on-site parking lot!

Room Types at ANA InterContinental Manza Beach Resort

Guest room at ANA InterContinental Manza Beach Resort

The hotel has 400 rooms total, broadly split into two categories: Standard (regular) rooms and the one-rank-up Club InterContinental rooms, which come with access to a private lounge.

Rooms face one of two directions — the “Manzamo side,” looking out over the dramatic cliffs and sunset views, or the “Beach side,” with its white sand and emerald-green water — so you can pick based on what you’re after.

Some rooms and select floors also come with high-performance hair dryers and premium amenities for an extra-comfortable stay!

This time I stayed in a “Mid-Floor Beach View” room (32㎡) on one of the mid-high floors (5th-8th).

Opening the door, I was greeted by an elegant blue-and-white interior inspired by Manza’s clear water and coral reefs — instant resort mode!

A Closer Look at ANA InterContinental Manza Beach Resort

▼ The hotel’s exterior, standing out beautifully against the blue sea and rows of palm trees

Now let’s take a proper look at ANA InterContinental Manza Beach Resort, where I actually stayed.

Being an ANA InterContinental, the grounds are, as expected, massive. Seriously huge!

Besides the main hotel building there’s a beach zone and a separate beach building. Getting the overall layout in your head early makes moving around during your stay so much smoother.

Spiral-shaped hotel exterior

Arriving at the hotel, you’re welcomed by gorgeous white architecture set against the blue sky, an iconic arched entrance, and a row of stately palm trees!

The nameplate out front is the perfect spot for that “I’ve officially arrived in an Okinawa resort!” photo.

Open, ocean-inspired front desk

Past the entrance, there’s a sleek check-in counter tucked into a corner of the spacious lobby.

Vivid blue accent lighting against white walls, paired with mosaic tile below the counter, seems to conjure up “Okinawa’s beautiful sea” — such a refreshing space!

The desk area in the room

Desk area in the guest room

Opening the door, a bright, airy room opens up with light streaming in through the large window at the far end!

This room’s interior design is elegant, with vivid blue accents inspired by Manza’s clear water and coral reefs.

Calm dark-brown flooring rounds out the upscale, resort-worthy feel.

Bed in the guest room

The bed is so soft! One night here and any long-flight fatigue is completely reset.

The pillow height was just right too — I slept great whether on my side or my back.

Outlets next to the desk

▼ There are outlets right beside the desk too, so charging your phone is no hassle at all

Armchair by the window

By the window there’s a cozy single armchair you can really sink into.

The cushion — vivid blue with a salmon-pink coral print — is such a Manza-resort touch!

Ocean view from the room window

Open the curtains and there’s the ocean, right in front of you — a true ocean view!

Falling asleep at night to the sound of the waves is pure luxury.

Wall-mounted TV in the guest room

A large wall-mounted TV sits front and center in the room.

The space-saving layout means you can watch comfortably from bed!

Birthday gift left near the desk

Going over to the desk, I found a sweet birthday gift the hotel had prepared!

I’d mentioned it was a birthday stay ahead of time, and the surprise really touched me.

Welcome card in the guest room

They’d even left a little yellow hand towel as a thoughtful extra touch!

Closet and hangers in the guest room

Storage space was plenty generous — no problem at all fully unpacking a suitcase.

A welcome card had been quietly placed out at check-in, and that small gesture really got me.

Side table in the guest room

Inside a drawer I found an electric kettle.

Bathrobe provided in the room

Pulling out the chest under the desk revealed a neatly folded, hotel-original set of nightwear.

White with blue piping, and “INTERCONTINENTAL MANZA” embroidered on the chest pocket — resort details right down to the sleepwear!

Bottled mineral water

▼ Free mineral water is provided in the room too

Teacups and other amenities

▼ Even the teacups and other little touches feel upscale

Tea and coffee provided in the room

▼ Several kinds of tea and coffee are stocked too

Toothbrush and other amenity kit items

▼ A full amenity kit with toothbrushes and more is provided as well

Amenities laid out in the bathroom

Inside a Mid-Floor Beach View twin room

Desk area in the guest room

The room I was shown to this time was room 843, on the top floor of the mid-floor section!

The room number in bright blue against the white door, with its dotted design, felt so refreshingly Okinawan.

The bath, toilet, and unit bathroom

Bathtub with an ocean view

The bathroom has a good-sized tub you can properly relax in!

Separate toilet space
Toilet area

The toilet sits right next to the unit bath, but it’s a clean, all-white space, and the emerald-green mosaic tile in the corner gives it a refreshing resort touch.

Spacious sink area

The sink area is nice and roomy too — zero stress even with two people getting ready at once.

Everything felt spotless and it was genuinely pleasant to use!

Separate shower booth

There were enough crisp, freshly laundered face towels for everyone.

Easy to miss, but there’s a bathrobe tucked into the drawer too.

Shampoo and conditioner bottles

▼ The shampoo and conditioner are from a brand with real Okinawan flavor

Bathroom scale in the room

▼ A bathroom scale is provided as well

The minibar fridge even had free drinks — “sanpin-cha” (jasmine tea) and Orion Beer among them.

Here’s the full rundown of what’s in the room:

In-House Facilities & Activities

A jaw-dropping atrium lobby and in-house shops

Open atrium interior

The moment you step inside, the spiraling open atrium hits you first. My excitement was already through the roof at check-in!

Atrium lobby with open ceiling

The first thing that overwhelms you inside is the massive atrium lobby, open straight through the middle. It photographs beautifully from every angle, and it instantly makes the whole “I’m at a resort” feeling click.

Bathrobe provided at the spa

The first floor also has a large communal bath, dry sauna, and Spa & Wellness facilities! Massage options range from short sessions to full-body courses.

Shop inside the hotel

There’s a hotel shop and a craft shop too, and browsing for souvenirs ends up being surprisingly fun.

Souvenirs lined up in the hotel shop

There’s even a gel-candle-making experience corner! You won’t be bored even on a rainy day.

Cafe and bar counter inside the hotel

There’s a full cafe and bar too! Whether it’s a cold drink by the pool or a nightcap, you can enjoy either depending on your mood.

Guest floor hallway
Craft experience shop inside the hotel

▼ The in-house craft-experience shop, where you can try making shisa figures or keychains

Entrance to the spa

▼ The entrance to “urumo Spa”

Directory signage inside the hotel

▼ Clear directory signage means you never get lost getting around

Even the hallways are photogenic! Getting from place to place became its own little part of the fun.

Kids’ services are pretty thorough too — there’s a “Haisai Manza Stamp Rally,” plus free rental of baby cribs and kids’ toilet seats. There’s also lifeguard coverage at the beach, so you can let the kids play with peace of mind.

The garden pool, Manza Beach, and Manza Ocean Park

This hotel is so much more than just rooms and restaurants. The on-site facilities are incredibly rich too — you won’t get bored even on a multi-night stay!

Garden pool

The garden pool is within walking distance of the beach! Parasols, deck chairs, towels, and wetsuits are all free to rent.

Pool and hotel exterior

Looking up at the hotel from poolside is quite a sight! Being able to enjoy it fully without worrying about extra fees is the best part.

Deck chairs by the pool

The moment I lay down on a deck chair, I was fully switched into tropical mode.

Kayaks available on the beach

You can snorkel by boat over the house reef! Guided tours with a professional instructor are available too, so even beginners are covered.

Beachside rest spot

There are shaded rest spots along the beach too, so you can settle in and enjoy the ocean view out of direct sun.

Sunset over the Manza sea

Watching the sunset from the beach in the evening is genuinely moving! The perfect way to close out the day.

Pool lit up at night

Once the sun goes down, the pool lights up and takes on an entirely different, dreamlike mood from daytime. I’d definitely recommend a stroll over to see it before or after dinner.

The 2-Meal Plan: Dinner & Breakfast Buffet Report

Dinner is a buffet at the restaurant “Aqua Belle.” Live cooking stations keep freshly made hot dishes coming out one after another. As you can see in the photos, the range covers everything from Okinawan-ingredient dishes to colorful desserts — going with the 2-meal plan was absolutely the right call!

Dinner buffet: the menu and my honest take on “Aqua Belle”

Entrance to Aqua Belle all-day dining

The moment I stepped through the entrance, the open ceiling and the garden greenery hit me at once — my excitement was already sky-high.

Hawaiian-themed live cooking station

At the Hawaiian-themed live cooking station, a chef finishes the dish right in front of you! It’s exciting just to watch.

DIY poke bowl corner

I also found a DIY poke bowl corner! Picking your own toppings to build a bowl that’s entirely yours was more fun than I expected.

Vegetable and clam curry

According to reviews, the dinner highlight is supposedly an Ishigaki beef steak! Apparently starting with the vegetables is the trick to not having regrets.

Stir-fried dishes

Sweet and sour pork, green curry — the range across Japanese, Western, and Chinese cuisine is honestly huge.

Fried rice

The lineup was seriously overwhelming to choose from!

Dim sum and steamed dishes corner

There’s a dim sum and steamed-dish corner too, and it’s genuinely delicious.

Pasta dishes

Western dishes like pasta are covered too — no gaps in the lineup at all!

Fresh oysters

There were even fresh oysters lined up, and honestly, I thought “this isn’t hotel-buffet level anymore…”

Seafood laid out on ice

The seafood lined up on ice was so lavish it kept my excitement going nonstop.

Colorful salad plate

The colorful salads meant I could get my vegetables in guilt-free.

Prosciutto and fruit plate

The prosciutto-and-fruit combo plate already looked like a feast on its own.

Chocolate fountain dessert corner

And the crowning touch: a chocolate fountain! Kids and adults alike are guaranteed to get excited here.

Fresh strawberry dessert

Fresh strawberries and other fruit were plentiful too, so you can’t let your guard down even at dessert time.

Dessert corner selection

Finished it off with coffee and sata andagi (Okinawan doughnuts) — a satisfying, Okinawa-flavored finale.

Drinks cover draft beer, wine, and tropical cocktails too! There are soft drinks as well, so families can relax.

Outside the window, Manza’s ocean stretches out! It’s especially beautiful at sunset, and being able to enjoy this view during dinner without going anywhere is just the best. If you want the sunset, aim to be seated about 30 minutes before it goes down.

There’s also a Japanese restaurant, “Unkai,” in the hotel, plus another spot where you can enjoy Agu pork shabu-shabu while watching a traditional Ryukyu performance! These aren’t included in the 2-meal plan, though — they’re a la carte.

Breakfast buffet: signature dishes, hours, and how to avoid the crowds

Breakfast is served in a bright dining room filled with morning light. Here are the actual plates I put together — omelets and fresh-baked bread, of course, but also Okinawa soba and sata andagi even in the morning.

Omelet station finished to order

The made-to-order omelet station is hugely popular — eggs finished right in front of you. It makes the morning feel special.

Egg dish plated with bacon

I paired it with freshly cooked bacon on one plate. This good, this early — it should almost be against the rules.

Freshly brewed coffee

With a cup of freshly brewed coffee, it turned into a wonderfully indulgent way to start the day.

Freshly baked croissants

Freshly baked croissants led an enormous bread lineup — it took me a while just to decide.

Bread corner with many varieties

The bread corner alone was already a whole morning’s worth of entertainment.

Fresh vegetable salad bar

The salad bar was lined with fresh vegetables! A satisfying way to get real nutrition in even at breakfast.

Grilled sausage assortment

The grilled items, like sausages, were plentiful too! Plenty filling.

Noodle corner

There are noodles and rice dishes too, so you can go either Japanese or Western style — a nice option to have.

Breakfast with Okinawan side dishes

I also spotted Okinawan side dishes like goya champuru! Adding a bit to your Western plate makes for a plate that’s uniquely of the trip.

Colorful breakfast plate

With just a little care in plating, my plate turned out this colorful.

Wide selection at the breakfast buffet

There was so much to choose from that I couldn’t stop trying a little of everything!

Overall view of the buffet

Window seats look right out over Manza’s ocean! Eating breakfast bathed in morning light was something else entirely. Right after opening is your best shot at snagging one.

Breakfast runs from early morning, and dinner from evening into the night as the base hours! Exact times shift by season, so check for the latest before you go.

Window seats tend to be a scramble right after breakfast opens, and again around sunset for dinner! Shift your timing slightly and you’ll get a whole different atmosphere.

Pros and cons of choosing the 2-meal plan

Let’s be honest here! I’ll lay out exactly what I found good and what I didn’t, no sugarcoating.

The upsides — these genuinely help!

  • No need to drive out somewhere for dinner every night — that alone is a huge relief
  • Breakfast and dinner costs are locked in ahead of time, so no budget-overrun worries
  • It’s a buffet, so you take exactly as much as you want — great for kids and light eaters alike
  • You get to enjoy the luxury of eating with sunset or sunrise views

On the other hand, here’s what I want to be upfront about!

  • Dinner is fixed to “Aqua Belle” — restaurants like “Unkai” are separate, a la carte
  • On a multi-night stay, you’ll hit the same buffet repeatedly and might notice some menu overlap
  • Operating hours are fixed, so a late check-in needs some planning
  • During busy periods you might wait a little for a seat or at a live station
Interior of Aqua Belle all-day dining

This should really land well for first-time guests and families with kids! If you’re staying multiple nights, it’s worth considering a room-only rate combined with a la carte dining too.

How It Compares to Other Onna Village Resorts — and What Reviewers Actually Say

What makes Manza Beach Resort unique (location and activities)

Onna Village is packed with popular resorts, so it’s easy to get torn between them. Here’s what you can only get here!

  • An unbeatable location right next to Manzamo, where the entire peninsula is basically one resort facility
  • A beach selected as one of Japan’s top swimming spots for its outstanding water clarity
  • Around 400 rooms means a scale of facilities and restaurants you get from a true large resort
  • The highly regarded “Aqua Belle” for both breakfast and dinner

If you want both the stunning Manzamo views and top-tier restaurant quality, and refuse to compromise on either, this hotel is guaranteed to click for you.

What I found good, and what stood out, after actually staying here

Before booking, what everyone wants to know is what other guests thought, right? Browsing travel booking sites, the location, water clarity, and buffet quality get praised constantly.

Manza's ocean spread out in front of the hotel

On the flip side, some mention the distance from the airport or how compact the communal bath is. Even so, the location is strong enough to outweigh those points.

Breaking it down by category makes the pattern even clearer!

  • Location / scenery: Being right in front of Manzamo, plus the water clarity, gets overwhelmingly high marks
  • Restaurants: Aqua Belle’s selection and quality are well loved for both breakfast and dinner
  • Rooms: The reassurance of every room having an ocean view, though some note impressions vary by floor
  • Service: Attentive staff, with good care extended to guests traveling with kids
  • Value: Many feel it’s good value once you factor in how much the overall facilities offer

What I actually felt during my stay

  • Location / scenery: Being right in front of Manzamo is even more convincing in person than in photos!
  • Rooms: Every room having an ocean view left nothing to complain about
  • Dinner buffet: Both the range and the quality easily beat my expectations
  • Breakfast buffet: Just as good as the reviews say — honestly, even better
  • In-house facilities: Pool, beach, and spa all in one place — plenty to enjoy even on a multi-night stay
  • Value: More than fair given everything you actually get to experience

Booking Tips and a Sample Schedule

Common booking mistakes, and how to book smart

Here’s a rundown of the “oh, I wish I’d checked that first” moments that tend to happen after booking.

  • Booking without checking the room type and getting a shock when the view isn’t what you expected
  • Not checking the dinner buffet’s operating hours and arriving late after a delayed check-in
  • Assuming the other restaurants are also included in the 2-meal plan when they aren’t
  • Booking last-minute during peak season and finding the room type you wanted is already sold out

The 2-meal plan does raise the total price, but when you consider it removes all the hassle of choosing a restaurant, it actually ends up being pretty good value.

  • Perks vary by booking site, so it’s worth comparing a few
  • Mentioning a birthday or anniversary ahead of time might get you a nice surprise perk
  • During peak season, book a tentative reservation as early as possible
  • Traveling with kids? Check the conditions for free baby-item rentals in advance

Here’s a clear breakdown of what is and isn’t included in the plan:

CategoryIncludedNot included / extra charge
MealsDinner and breakfast buffet at Aqua BelleA la carte dining such as Unkai, room service
DrinksSoft drinks, coffee, etc.Alcohol and premium drinks may cost extra
Facility useGarden pool, basic beach-equipment rentalSpa treatments, some activities

A sample 1-night / 2-day and 2-night / 3-day itinerary for the 2-meal plan

Here’s exactly how my 1-night, 2-day stay played out! Use it as a reference for planning your own timing.

Day 1: an afternoon of nonstop excitement

  • Around 3:00 PM: Check in. The open atrium lobby hits you first.
  • 3:30-5:00 PM: Settle into the room, then wander the pool and beach.
  • 5:00-6:00 PM: A soak in the communal bath to freshen up.
  • 6:00-7:30 PM: Dinner buffet at Aqua Belle, timed with sunset.
  • 8:00 PM onward: A light drink at the in-house bar, or just relax in the room.
Manza's ocean at dusk

Day 2: fully active from the morning

  • 6:30 AM: Aim for right when the breakfast buffet opens to grab a prime window seat.
  • 7:00-8:30 AM: Fully enjoy the omelet station and the bread selection.
  • 9:00-11:00 AM: Snorkel at the beach, walk over to Manzamo.
  • 11:00 AM-12:00 PM: Squeeze in the pool and shops before check-out.
  • 12:00 PM: Check out, then head to sightseeing in the north or on toward Naha.
Around the garden pool in the morning

It’s genuinely impressive how much you can pack in even on a short stay! Stay multiple nights and you can add the spa or an a la carte dinner at Unkai.

If you have more time, here’s a 2-night, 3-day plan worth considering!

  • Day 1: Prioritize resetting from travel fatigue and take it easy around the hotel. Dinner at Aqua Belle on the 2-meal plan.
  • Day 2: Snorkeling after breakfast for an active day! An a la carte dinner at Unkai in the evening.
  • Day 3: Unwind fully at the spa, walk around Manzamo, then check out.

Mix the buffet on day one with a la carte on day two, and even a multi-night stay never feels repetitive!

Beachside scenery

Amenities are pretty much all provided in the room, so you can honestly pack light! The hotel shop also carries the basics if you forget anything.

Traveling as a couple / on your honeymoon
Claim an ocean view for a sunset all to yourselves! For anniversaries, a Club InterContinental room adds extra special touches.

Traveling with family / kids
Go with a beach view for easy beach access. Free rentals for kids’ items are a real help too!

Kayaks to play with on the beach

Traveling with girlfriends
Spa treatments and photos in the guaranteed-Instagrammable atrium lobby will make the trip even better!

Solo travel / workation
Knock out work quickly at the desk space, then fully unwind at the beach or pool once evening comes!

Senior couples / a trip to treat your parents
Soothe travel fatigue at the communal bath or spa, and take sightseeing at an easy pace. The 2-meal plan also cuts down on how much moving around you need to do.

  • Spring (March-May): Fewer crowds and comfortable weather — a great window to visit
  • Summer (June-September): Peak season for the beach and pool! Sun protection is a must.
  • Autumn (October-November): Crowds ease off while the water is still warm — an underrated season
  • Winter (December-February): The garden pool may close for the season, so it’s a good time for a buffet-focused trip instead
Manza's ocean changing expression with the seasons

Whatever season you visit, the reassurance is that both the Manzamo views and the buffet quality stay consistently great.

Summary: Who ANA InterContinental Manza Beach Resort Is Perfect For

Here’s who this hotel is especially great for!

  • Anyone who’d rather not drive out somewhere for dinner every night and wants everything handled in-house
  • First-time guests who want to check out the restaurant atmosphere and quality for themselves
  • Families with young kids who want to serve themselves exactly what they like, in whatever amount
  • Anyone who wants breakfast and dinner costs locked in ahead of time for easy budgeting
  • Anyone who wants to combine the stay with sightseeing at Manzamo and northern Okinawa

If you’re considering a stay, I hope this report helps!
